Posthorn
The posthorn in MS is notated in F clef.
I don't have a clue where this comes from.
The reference for posthorns: Albert Hiller's "Das Grosse Buch vom Posthorn" gives examples from basically every score (classical and popular) featuring a posthorn in history, and not one of them is written in Bass clef.
Most common posthorns are
-in A , e.g. Johann Michael Haydn, Sinfonie in A Perger 15 (posthornsolo in Menuet Trio); Mozart Posthorn Serenade KV320;
-in G, e.g. Michael Haydn , Menuetto di Posta in G
-in C, e.g. Beethoven, 12 Deutsche Tänze
-in Eb
-in Bb, e.g. often used by Lanner and Strauss (senior), e.g. Kettenbrücke Walzer (sounds as a trumpet, or a Fürst Pless horn if you like)
In the UK tradition, the posthorns are in A (orchestra) or Ab (brass/concert band) and sound an octave higher (like a piccolo trumpet) - Post Horn Galop, The Huntsman, The Chase.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to have these in MS?
Is there a procedure for this?

Why? Do you know how to write for posthorn? How about Baroque trumpet? If you do, fine. But I imagine most people do not.

Why not? I am transcribing a never published work of J. Strauss senior with posthorn. Of course i can workaround. I could also workaround Baroque trumpets if i needed to. They are nevertheless in MS.
Do you write for a "Greatbass Kelhorn"?
And yes, i could write for posthorn - but i am transcribing.
Adding a posthorn to MS is AFAIK just an entry in instruments.xml. I was asking for a procedure on how to submit this - should the person responsible for this agree - of course. Are you that person?

Sorry. It was not clear to me what you were doing. Interesting, so you are working from a hand written score?
My interest is more toward Baroque music. I used to play a natural trumpet. As I recall, posthorn is even more limited and specialized.
