Musesounds update frequency?
Realistically, how often can I expect Musesounds to be updated?
Can I just start up Musehub occasionally and have it find updates? I don't see a "check for updates" feature in it.

Assuming you have everything in the Hub turned off, when you start the Hub look for the Gear in the upper right corner. If there is red number over it, that means there is an update. Select the gear and you will see what is going on.

Does it just happen in the background, or do you actually get a notification?

It happens in the background (unless disabled)

That begs the next question:
are there a release notes for the the sounds (and for the app)?
I don't know about anyone else, but I like to know what's being changed on my machine.

I don't know of any

Automatic updates of software and sounds can be disabled in Musehub settings, if so, updates are flagged if available and can be downloaded (or not) as the user chooses. However, there are indeed no release notes for sounds, which makes it difficult to decide whether an update is worth installing.

It only happens in the background if you have that setting turned on in the Hub and have the Hub running all the time. I have the Hub closed all the time with all the settings turned off. Every once in a while I open it to see if there are any updates. If there are, there is a red number by the gear icon in the upper right . Select it and you will what is available. After you are done, scroll down to and select "Quit" to exit.
