Change Instrument without Transposing

When I import my tenor saxophone part, the experimental import pdf works just fine -- except it makes the instrument "voice soprano." When I change instruments, it automatically transposes, changing the octave and the key signature. I do NOT want transposition; I simply want the sound when I select play to be the tenor sax. How do I change instruments without transposing the notes?
