Possibly you work and save files in MS4 and opening the files is still set to MS3. You can try do rightclick " open with " MS4. If this works select "always use this program"
Are you by chance using the "Save Online" feature instead of saving normally to your computer? When doing that, you'll be at the mercy of your internet connection and also the status of the website. Better to just save locally if you want to always have access to your scores.
Meanwhile, try visiting the website musescore.com and then find and download your score directly from there.
