How to switch note or automatically re-position? (An equivalent of Insert in text editor)
My problem is that when I have already written a long piece of music, I find that one note in the early bar last too short and I need to make it longer; and sometimes I find that I missed several important notes.
If I type a new note, or modify the length of a note, the change will overwrite the later notes (like the insert mode in text editor).
How can I type a new note or modify the length of one note and have the software automatically shift the later notes aftwards automatically?

What should happen if the measure in a 4/4 time signature already has a note on all beats?
Yes, there is the insert mode, but this lengthens the measure, which is only desired in rare cases.
Insert as in a word processing software does not exist for notes.

"Insert as in a word processing software does not exist for notes."
Indeed; word processors don't need to honour bar lines.
