Triplet with two notes tied
I'm not sure exactly the correct name for this in music notation but within a 4/4 bar I want my first quarter note/crotchet split into a 1/3 beat and another 2/3.
I've seen this with in sheet music as a triplet with two notes tied but I'm new to MS and I don't really know the correct terms to search.
I've figured out how to put in a triplet, but not tying writing a triplet. Probably very basic but I'd appreciate knowing how, and the right terminology?
Thanks

Have you looked here https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/tuplets#instructions (nd https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/beams )?
Press the key + juster after entering the first tied note, MuseScore will add the other note and the tie for you.
Or if the 2 notes are already entered, just select the first one (simply click on it) and press +

But if you are using MU4 the tie shortcut is T rather than +.

Yes you're right, I'm still using 3 and forgot about that change.

I am half way between 3 and 4. For new stuff I generally use 4 but use 3 to work on stuff that I started in 3. For ties I usually try the wrong shortcut first, whichever version I am using.
Thanks everyone... that was actually a lot more intuitive once I knew.
Appreciate your help.
