Files have disappeared
I had files that wouldn't open and when I cleared the recent files the "invalid" files disappeared. How can I get them back? It's a bit of a useless program if this can just happen for no reason.

There is nothing in the coding of the MuseScore program that enables it to delete your files. They are wherever you saved them unless you or another program deleted them.

This is not completely correct.
Yes, there is no such code in the Musescore program code, but if you use e.g. "Save As", a Windows Explorer window opens and you can delete files there before you execute the save command. But this is a "borrowed" explorer window from the operating system ...
And, of course, you can overwrite existing files.
Perhaps it is different under Linux or Mac-OS.
The list of recent files is just that, a list. The files themselfes still exist and are still at the same place on your disk
