Note Ties Bug

I just installed Musescore 4.2, I don't believe this has been an issue as I have never seen it before, and the score in the image is less than a few months old. The problem is every time I try to tie notes together, it just turns into a massive black disaster and they are way bigger than they need to be. Some notes that are hidden under the void mess don't even register or play. I haven't a clue to what is going on an any help is very much appreciated, thanks!
