Musescore 4 file Corrupted and cannot be opened

I'm writing a quartet for a friend's recital, and weeks into it my file crashes and it says it can't be opened. The error report says "File "" is critically corrupted and cannot be opened"
Is it over for me? do I have to start over? Is there any way to revert to a past save if there isn't a specific copy of the MCSZ file?
Pretty frustrating that I can be working on a piece, press a button, and it doesn't exist anymore.
Let me know if there are any other options. Thanks
