adding voices
trying to add a voice to an existing melody on the same staff.
directions say select staff, then select note input mode, then select voice.
Doesn't work for me. any suggestions?

This works exactly as you have described. (MuS 3). And according to the MuS 4 manual, it works the same way there.
Alternatively, you can also use Ctrl+Alt+(voice number) to switch to another voice.
