Space Invader sounds, other errors during playback/note input

With the latest update on my MacBook Air, playback of certain instruments like bass guitar and percussion can only be described as resembling retro video game sounds that repeat endlessly even when playback ends or when a note is selected. The noises repeat endlessly unless you click away or select a note from an instrument not affected by this bug, like piano.

When inputting notes for an instrument like electric bass, the staff also immediately fills up with as many possible pitches as possible, begins playing them all, and won't stop until, again, you click away. It makes writing for anything besides certain unaffected instruments impossible.

Note that I also have this version of MuseScore on a Windows 11 desktop that is not having the same issues.
