Rhythm Indicator on Rests (MS3)
Is it possible to hide the rests at the start and end of this measure and instead show rhythm indicators as if there were actually notes? (The red lines are a workaround using symbols which almost achieve the effect but they don't quite work.)

Have you tried beam properties?

Thanks, I'll check them out later today - but the quarter notes don't have beams so this option didn't occur to me.

With the beam on the first 2 notes of voice 1 selected, the inspector properties don't offer anything that would let me extend this beaming over the preceding rest. I have tried the options but they do other things.

Found some more beam properties and this one helps:
I guess that I have to add some vertical lines to make pseudo stems. It's a bit clunky but will work.

Those are what I meant
Dorico has an option called stemlets. Is this available in MS?

There's at least a feature request for those

Nice. Another stop-gap option may be to use to use hidden, non-playing notes but I would need to make changes to the TAB Ring plugin so that such notes did not stop "Let Ring" playback.

Hmm, I don't see it on GitHub though

But see #100111: stemlet (stems over rests)

Comment by @shoogle on that thread in April 2021:
"The internal development team will not be working on this [stemlets] for MuseScore 4.
If a community member wants to take it up then they are welcome to do so and we will provide design support."

I may take it up but it will be for MS3.
