Hghlighting, (as with a word processor), the lead instrument.

Example:
I am writing a string trio. The violin starts the theme melody. 31/2 bars later the melody continues by another instrument. I am wondering if there is a way to have the measures playing the lead, by the respective instruments, highlighted as in a word processor. I hope that I explained it well enough to make it understandable.
