Audacity 3.4.2 plugins on Linux?

• Apr 8, 2024 - 14:19

Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I was playing around with Audacity 3.4.2 on Ubuntu 22.04 today. I wanted to add a Realtime Effect to an audio track, but it turns out there are only a few plugins installed by default, so I clicked on "Get more effects...".

This took me to the Audacity Plugins page at https://plugins.audacityteam.org/. On this page, I found an effect that looked nice with a cool GUI for adjusting settings (MuseFX Reverb), so I decided to try it. The Audacity Plugins page says this plugin is part of MuseFX pack, and the details page for this particular plugin has a link to https://www.musehub.com/.

On https://www.musehub.com/, below the download links for Apple and Windows, it says "Looking for Linux? Muse Hub for Linux is now Muse Sounds Manager" with a link to https://musescore.org/en/download.

On https://musescore.org/en/download, the AppImage that is offered is not for Muse Sounds Manager, it is for MuseScore, but that's ok because right below that there is a DEB file that does indeed install Muse Sounds Manager.

However, when I finally install and start Muse Sounds Manager, the window does not look like what I see in tutorials for Muse Hub (for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ry3GcY90RQo). Specifically, in Muse Sounds Manager for Linux, I only see sounds that I can download, but no effects at all.

Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Ray
