Delete scores from Musescore 4 home screen is impossible (scores scattered in many LapTop HD folders )
Hello,
I have a Win10 Laptop (Dell Latitude 2Tb SSD) , with MuseScore 4.2.1 installed.
It happens that my MusScore scores are scattered in many different folders at different locations on the hard disk (and essentially NOT in the user/muscore4 folder).
And I have may be 2 scores in the cloud (my mistake, since I presently hate the idea of storing stuff on cloud).
When I start MuseScore on a score via clicking on a score that is in one of those scattered folders, it takes a VERY long time to start (several minutes)
I tried to suppress all the "recent scores", via accessing file/recent scores; that list is indeed very long; BUT I am unable to reach the bottom of that list via the standard user interface of Musescore in order to "clear all": upon nearly reaching that position at the bottom of the list, the current cursor position in the list is abruptly translated up in the list: I am unable to reach the "clear the list" !
And since those "recent scores" are scattered on many folder on the LapTop HD, I can't simply clear the myDocuments/musescore4/Scores
In order to delte that without launching MuseScore: Where is hidden that MuseScore "recent files" list
Please Help !
note:
1°) my LapTop has a 14" screen

I tried to upload a Screen capture video; But the system does not accept the upload...
Here is the link to that video (link valid for 7 days, starting apr 30th 2024)

There's no download button: I can't view your video. Dropbox is a much better option than ... whatever this "sendtransfer.com" is. (Looks suspicious to me *shrug*)
Did you look at the info on that link I sent you?

Hello TheHutch,
Yes, I did look at the link you sent me, and the procedure you indicated to solve the "pita" situation":
(manually editing the C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore4\recent_files.json file using a text editor, suppressing all and leaving only

has solved the problem ! (json file location= C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore4)
Many thanks ! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
For eventual bug identification for the MuseScore team, (and if "sendtransfer.com" feels scarry)
here is a DropBox link to the video (screen capture, mouse arrow not captured, no sound) showing the "jumpy" behaviour of MuseScore when I was desperately trying to reach the bottom of the "recent Score" list:
