I thought at first this might only happen at the very beginning of the score, but no, it happens any time you insert a measure before an ottava. The ottava doesn't even have to be at the beginning of the measure.
Also, if there are multiple ottavas in the score, all but the *last* play correctly. That is, if there are ottavas in measures 2 & 9, and you insert a measure before measure 2, the ottava in the old measure 2 will play correct, but the one in old measure 9 won't.
In any of these cases, playback is correct after a save/reload.
Is there a way to reload without closing the score and open it again? From what I remember, there was a menu item File > Reload in MuseScore 1.3.
File / Reload is indeed gone - I remember that being a deliberate choice, although I don't know the reasons other than it sometimes caused problems. So close / reopen is the only way I know.
