How to set properties for a tuplet with hidden number and bracket?

If I have a score with a tuplet where both the number type and the bracket type is none, I can't see how to select with either the keyboard or mouse. Even if I select everything in the measure, I can't modify the tuplet properties. I've tried using the keyboard too (Alt+arrow keys etc.), but no luck.
The only thing I've found that works is to create another tuplet (with default properties), select that, then right click and use "select similar".
