How to add many notes more than the time signature allows.

Please, I want to know how to add many notes more than the time signature allows. I don't know what these notes are called so I've attached 2 screenshots of scores that have these particular notes I am talking about so that you can see them. These notes also generally appear smaller than the normal notes in a score. Help!

I'm only on my mobile phone just now so I'm little limited in searching but check for Free meter / non metered music in the handbook. By the way, I find the search function in the handbook very limited so I use Google search instead, i.e "musescore non metered music",
