Scores found on MuseScore; free and for sale

• Jul 24, 2024 - 22:03

When I search for and locate a score there are several "labels" that I don't understand.

First, some of the scores have a green label that say "Pro". What does this indicate?
Second, some scores have to be paid for. Are these are always labeled "Official", or are there non-Official scores that are also charged for?
Third, I don't want to purchase a score that I can't listen to before purchasing. Is there an option to play a score first?
Last,
- Official scores are licensed from famous print music publisher. Fare enough, but who is getting the money? - Are the MuseScore users posting these scores simply running an online business through MuseScore?
- How do I setup such a businesses setup on MuseScore?

Comments

Pro means that the uploader has a Pro acount
Official scores can (partly?) be bought, per score, no others can. The Muse Group acquired one major publisher (Hal Leonard) recently...
Non-Official scores that are not marked as PD or Original Workk can only be downloaded of you're a Pro member and the uploader hasn't explicitly disabled download
Play is always possible, for any score, that's the whole point of sharing scores on the musescore.com website
For official scores the money goes to the publishers, to the copyright owners, (I guess)
As you're not a major publisher, there are next to zero changes to setup an agreement with musescore.com...

None of this is topical here on musescore.org though ;-)
