Electric Guitar (treble clef) incorrectly transposes when linking to a TAB staff

• Aug 2, 2024 - 04:51

With the instruments
Acoustic Guitar (treble clef)
and
Guitar (treble clef)
if you link a TAB staff, it behaves correctly as expected.

If, however, you try to link a TAB staff to Electic Guitar (treble clef),
the TAB is incorrect (transposed one octave too high).

These 'fixes' will only fix your copy of MuseScore.
The error will still be there for anyone else who has not replaced these files.

For 4.3.2:
download https://github.com/user-attachments/files/16472957/instruments.zip
Extract instruments.xml to C:\Program Files\MuseScore 4\instruments
You may rename the original file if you wish to keep it.

For 3.6.2:
download https://github.com/user-attachments/files/16472586/instruments.zip
Extract instruments.xml to C:\Program Files\whateverfolderMuseScore3isin\instruments\
You may rename the original file if you wish to keep it.
Important: Be sure to set this directory and file in Edit/Preferences/Score/Instrument list 2
You may need to copy/paste any Electric Guitar (treble clef) parts to a new line in your scores for it to work.
You may also need to pare the file down to just the new instrument if, like me, you begin to experience double the actual number of channels on other instruments.
