Bug in Export to PDF (MuseScore 2.0 Beta 1)
When using a tempo text from the palette, it provides the metronome markings that can be changed, and I am able to add text to precede the metronome markings. However, when I added the expressive text to precede the metronome markings and exported the file to PDF, the quarter note and the opening parentheses overlap. It looks fine on MuseScore itself, however. It is worth mentioning that I had no issues with this in 1.3.
This is difficult to describe in words, so I will attach a screenshot of the issue. It may be trivial, but such output on paper makes the music look amateurish, and it is aesthetically displeasing.
Again, please note that the text before the metronome markings has been added to the markings, with parentheses added around the tempo text itself. I am using MuseScore 2.0 Beta 1 on Windows 7 32-bit alongside MuseScore 1.3 (which I almost never use anymore because it seems so outdated now).

Yes, unfortunately a known issue not completely under our control. See #25759: pdf export gives strange results under Windows for font different from Emmentaler.
I am sorry, but that link did not provide me any solid answers. Is there something I am missing? I see mentioning of TTF conversion, but I do not see that anywhere on MuseScore 2.0 beta 1.

No, you're not missing anything. The link doesn't contain information on how you can work around the problem. It just confirms it is a known problem and shows some of the efforts that have gone into trying to solve it and maybe gives a sense of why it isn't fix yet.
