I'm not sure I understand (I don't know/use 3.7). What if you replaced them with Text where you don't want them played back?
Same as in 3.6...
I'd use the mixer to mute the chord symbols channel on all parts but the one you want them to play

Which channel is the changes? I shut off the "harmony" channel and that did it.

Yes, the harmony channel (harmony being the name in the code for chord symbols)

It would be great if there was a single, more descriptive word describing a particular feature instance.
At any rate, I think it would be a good addition to have the per voice chord symbols "play - on/off" facility available in the rt. click staff/part properties window(s). I think it would be a lot more accessible and easier to use.
On another note, thank you for your hard work keeping 3.xxx (3.7) alive and improving :), and your many general contributions to the overall growth of this great program.
