Too much space in a bar

I have a few measures which are no different to others but they have a large space in them making them sometimes take up the whole line whereas other more complicated measures happily sit four measures on a line. I cannot find a way to 'close these bars up' to norrnal spacing. Can anyone help please

Select the measure and press Ctrl+R. The layout is reset.
You have probably moved an element and possibly not all elements are displayed.
