Weird collision behavior with rhythm slashes
Hello,
On MU v4.4.2, I have recently tried to use the "Toggle rhythmic slash notation" tool on a score—melody on voice 1, slashes from voice 3 to be on top of staff.
However, the collision appears to not be behaving properly:
- firstly, it automatically (and unnecessarily) flips voice 1 to point up;
- secondly, the rests from voice 3 are not automatically offset with the notes-turned-slashes, as expected.
Digging around the forums, I managed to found https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/7952/commits which is apparently related. However, the issue was apparently fixed in a past software version.
Is this a regression, a new issue or am I misusing/having the wrong expectations regarding the "Toogle rhythmic slash notation" tool?

Unless I've forgotten, I can't recall a version of Musescore where this notation would have been perfectly automatic, i.e. without the need to edit and fine-tune the position of rhythm slashes and rests. This is still the case with Version 4. That said, it's quick and easy to get a good result by right-clicking on a slash /Select / More / Same voice/ Ok, and modifying the vertical offset in Properties. The same applies to rests.

Thanks, that's good to know! I was dreading have to offset them individually as a workaround, but being able to multi-select them should work well enough for me.
Unless I'm mistooken, Voices 1 and 3 are supposed to point stems up. Voices 2 and 4, down. You might try putting the slashes in Voice 1 and the notes in Voice 2 ... or vice versa, rather than using Voices 1 and 3. As a general rule, use only Voices 1 and 2 unless it's absolutely necessary to use Voices 3 and 4.

Well, we are not talking about general rule of stems positioning according to the Voices. We're talking about the specific "Rhythmic slash notation" feature.
It has been implemented in such a way that slashes in Voice 3 immediately toggle above the staff (even if this isn't perfect), whereas in Voice 2 (and Voice 1) they remain inside the measures - image below.
