VDL Playback Help

So I've experimented with Musescores VDL Virtual Percussion and I'm confused on how some things work.

For mallet percussion, from what I've seen, if you change Marimba and Vibraphone noteheads to "Cross" or "With X" it will playback suspended cymbal rolls, which I was unaware of. One of my questions is, is it possible to change the playback of the suspended cymbal or is it stuck with the basic one that was already given to it?

Also, is there an actual guide to VDL besides the general one on Tapspace's website? I've tried testing out things from the guide but it hasn't done anything.
