Real-time Automatic Recording

Hi,

I own a Nektar Impact GX61 controller keyboard, which I expected would work with the Musescore application.
To achieve Real-time Automatic recording I first set up the keyboard with the software in Preferences i/o selected the Real time Automatic option, started the metronome at a suitable tempo, clicked on "Play" and played something on the keyboard. However, nothing showed on the score. Am I doing something wrong, or is the keyboard not compatible with the software?

What version of MuseScore? (I ask because Preferences > I/O is found in an older version.)
The current version is found here:
https://musescore.org/en/download

In any event, to play notes on a MIDI keyboard and have them notated on the musical staff, you must be in note input mode. The keyboard shortcut is N.
Once notes are on the staff, clicking on "Play" will play the score as notated.
