Support for Metronome with Irregular Groupings
I want to know if MuseScore supports metronome beats for irregular groupings.
For example:
- In a 2/4
time signature where each measure has 8 sixteenth notes, I would like to group the beats as 3+3+2
.
- The metronome should then follow this grouping, accenting the 1st
, 4th
, and 7th
sixteenth notes.
Is there a way to achieve this in MuseScore, or would it require a workaround or custom settings?

I don't believe you could do this with the normal metronome. (Somebody tell me if I'm wrong?)
What you could do is to insert a two-tone percussion instrument (for example, the Wood Blocks has a high tone (A) and a low tone(B). Enter the sound you want from this "metronome", with one tone as the accented beats and the other as the unaccented beats: for example, sixteenth notes of ABBABBAB. Copy this measure through the entire piece. Then hide the percussion instrument's system. It will play but not appear in the score. See the attached example score.

To see the Wood Blocks, open the Instruments tab, expand the Wood Blocks entry, and "open the eye" (at the left) on the Percussion staff. FYI: if you "close the eye" on the Wood Blocks level, the staff remains in the file, but does not play.
Make sure you do not have a measure of the Piano staff selected. When one or more measures of one staff are selected, the other staves do not play.
