Different lines between the measures and differently timed notes in a chord
I've got two problems depicting what is on a score in your app.
-
there is an upbeat of two notes, each an eighth note, before the rest of the 4/4 music continues. I put the two notes into the sheet at the start but it insists on adding sufficient rest marks fill out the 4/4 tempo. I see on the original document there is a double bar between the upbeat measure and the rest of the music. All other measures are divided by a single bar. How do I create this double bar?
-
I need to write a A-C-E chord where the A and C are half notes and the E is a quarter note. All three notes begin at the same time. I insert the A and C as half notes and then I insert the E as a quarter note. When the quarter note appears it gets shifted to the left of the A and C. How can I write this in your app?
My knowledge of music theory is limited and on top of that, I am learning piano in Germany! Please, understand this.
Thanks for any help

I did exactly as you described and in the help page
was given the option of doing : pressing N, Cntl + Alt + 1 / + 2 / + 3/ + 4. It doesn't work.
I see in the menu Tools / Voices a list of exchanging two voices. That doesn't work either.
I am still unable to add a quarter-E note to any of these two half notes.
I don't see any way of adding a new voice to my score. I don't see any way of determining if I am presently using voice #1 or #2 or what.
Measure properties, set the actual value to 1/4.
The double bar line is available in the palette "Barlines".
Use voice 2 for the E note.
BTW: there is a forum part in German! https://musescore.org/de/forum

"Use voice 2" is not a whole lot of information. Sorry, it doesn't help me much.

One can enter notes by clicking on the Edit/Pen icon, selecting the note, quarter, eighth, etc. and then clicking on the position on the staff.
One must however know that upon adding one note, further edits are limited to what the app insists you do.
One must press ESC one, two or three times to fully come out of the editing mode. Clicking elsewhere, as one may be accustomed to, on the page only adds further notes in strange places.
Adding a second voice as is described here requires the user to be completely out of the editing mode and then click on an icon with a "2" and quarter note with tail pointed downward. If one click does not result in highlighting this icon, then two, three or sometimes a double-click on it will highlight this icon, a quarter note and the Edit/Pen icon.
At this time a second voice-group of notes can be entered all with their tails downward.
And remember that one must use the ESC one, two or three times to come out of editing the second voice-group.

No, I am in edit mode to write voice 1, 2, 3 or 4. I press 'N' and select the voice.
And when I want to leave edit mode. it is enough to press ESC once.
(At least in Musescore 3)

Best advice: Read the Musescore 4 handbook
Here https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/entering-notes-and-rests
and here https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/working-multiple-voices
Or if you are still using Musescore 3
Here https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/note-input
and here https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/voices
Wait..What...
Press "N" to enter note input mode (edit mode). No need to press the Pen icon. No need to exit input mode to change voices. Just select the voice from the tool bar. You may have to add voices to the tool bar if there is only voice 1 showing. Select the Gear icon next to the voices to do this. To exit note input mode (edit mode) press "N" once.

And to use shortcuts even further:
Press N to enter note input mode. Enter a measure's worth of notes (or more) into Voice 1.
Press Ctrl+Alt+2. This switches to Voice 2 at the beginning of the currently selected measure. Enter notes into Voice 2.
Press Ctrl+Alt+3. Enter notes into Voice 3.
Press N (or Esc once) to exit note input mode.

No, honestly. I have to leave edit mode to go into the second voice. I use esc to exit the edit mode and need to press the icon 3 (three) times to activate the second voice input. Really. Honestly.
I just updated my Musicscore. I've got version 4.4.2.242971445.
If I knew how I would send you a video.

Even though that is not the newest version, hitting "N" should work. Perhaps go to Help and do a factory reset.
