blue playback line not moving forward + no audio in general (windows 11 laptop)

I have been trying to finish a project for a class and I can't because I am unable to listen to what I am composing. Whenever I hit the space bar or click the play button on the screen, nothing happens, it just shows up and sits there. also, I have no audio when im just trying to put a note somewhere. I have tried rebooting my pc 3 times, I have tried headphones & no headphones, idk what else to do. please help.
