why "property" under "view" is grey, can't be activated?
i was going to add alphabet t the note head, but can't find "note" under "pallettes". Then i was told to go to "property" under "view". But i can't activate it.

Do you want the notehead scheme with pitch names? Otherwise I didn't understand your question.
Then you should not go to 'Palettes' but to the 'Properties' when you have selected one or several notes.
Then select 'Note', 'Head', 'Show more' and choose a 'Notehead scheme'.
