pickup measures
I looked up how to convert an a measure into a pickup measure in the handbook; when I follow the instructions to right click on the measure, I do not get the Measure Properties window -- what am I doing wrong?

No idea what you're doing wrong, as it just works that way
Try left-click and ensure the measure is selected (a blue box outline) and then try right-click.
