Found hidden channels when export score to midi

• Feb 9, 2025 - 14:14

I got a full score, with 13 instruments, written by MuseScore 4, from a composer. I opened it with Musescore 4.4 and create a part of 3 instruments selected among those 13. After that, I exported the Part into a midi file.
The Midi File can be played accordingly. But when I tried to open the Midi File by an app that is used to generate numbered musical notation score, which is popular to people here in KTV, the app crashed due to too many midi channels which is limited by 4 by the app.
I used MidiEditor app to investigate the Midi File, and found that there are 15 channels in the Midi File including the 3 instruments I selected.

I wonder where the other 12 hidden channels, which without any note event, came from?
Is there any setup/operation I missed in Musescore?
And is there any other solution available that can delete those hidden channels?

We can't help at all with only an image. Far more valuable would be the actual score file (.MSCZ). Please attach the file. (If you have some reason not to attach the whole thing, please provide at least a portion of it: i.e., a couple of systems. Verify that the portion shows the same behavior in your MIDI tool.)

In addition, there is (at least, there used to be?) a plug-in that converts western music notation to (I think it's called?) jian-pu numbered notation. If someone else can offer advice on that???
