Significant lag in latest musescore 4

There are a lot of features in Musescore 4 that I appreciate but it still has not become as usable as Musescore 3 was (at least for me). One of the largest issues is the lag. I'm mainly working on scores with 3-4 instruments in them and generally (what I would consider) a pretty reasonable amount of measures (less than 100). Even with a score of this size, there are periodic internal save points where I need to wait up to 10 seconds for the program. Windows shows Musescore as "Not Responsive". 99+% of the time, musescore eventually recovers. I'm not quite sure how to show this happening but the majority of the time this happens, I can see that Musescore is saving the file. Windows File Explorer shows a tmp file and, when that disappears and the actual file updates, musescore becomes responsive again.
As for my PC, I have an 11th gen i7 with 32G of RAM and an M.2 SSD. Not the latest hardware, I admit, but should be capable of handling saving a 100KB file in much less time than 10+ seconds. I save much much larger files in other applications in much less time.
If I were to dig through the settings, I would not be surprised if there were a way to turn off this periodic saving. Maybe that is the "solution", for me to make sure I manually save the file at points but with my modest file, seems like a huge problem in Musescore not to be able to maintain a saved tmp file without drastically impacting the usability of the program.
As far as I can tell, this happens on any score. Anyone messing about with Musescore, I would expect to hit this frequently. This makes me feel like it must be a problem with my PC. If there are known issues running in Windows, please let me know.
