Repetition issues with song

• Feb 18, 2025 - 13:31

I have a song that has a chorus, two verses, and a bridge part, and I couldn't manage to write down the repetition correctly. The chorus is repeated every time, and the verses start with an upbeat, so I used voltas at the end of the chorus. The correct way to play the song would be the following:

Chorus 2x
1st verse
chorus 2x
2nd verse
chorus 2x
bridge 2x
chorus 2x

I have already tried every possible combination of "D.C. al Coda" and other terms, but I can't solve the problem of getting the program to play the song in the correct order.

I uploaded a file with the same structure.

Do you have any ideas on how I can solve this?

Why a repeat count of 8?
The D.C. al Fine needs "Play repeats" being checked
Repeats don't nest you can't have multiple end repeat barlones withoutz match start repeat ones

In general I blieve your roadmap is too complex for MuseScore, and probably for real musicians too

Unroll the chorus: that is, do not use a repeat there, simply notate the same thing twice.

Then repeat on Chorus-Verse, with Verse 1 as first Volta, Verse 2 as second Volta, and Bridge as third Volta, open-ended to DC al Fine. Then the Fine at the end of the Chorus, immediately before first Volta.

With this structure you may be able to use a repeat on the bridge? You may have to unroll it too.
