Hide Staff Looks Really Ugly

I'm working on a piece for large ensemble and I'm putting in a percussion feature. I'm having an instrument switch in the percussion from single-staff glockenspiel to grand-staff marimba. However, the instrument change didn't automatically add another staff. I manually added a staff to the glockenspiel and set the staff to hide when not notated (cutaway.) There is a significant space where the hidden staff is even when there is no notation starting on that page and I cannot get rid of it.
I don't want to toggle "hide empty staves" because I have a few areas with lots of rests that will make the page look a little ugly honestly.
Is there any way to fix this gap?
