I'm guessing that you are referring to something like this?
If so, select the note at the beginning of the tie and press T to add the tie. Then select the note after the beam break and click the "Break inner beams (eighth)" tool in the Beam properties palette.
If not, ignore this post and provide clarification as to what you do want. For example, by providing a score demonstrating the issue and identifying exactly where, in that score, the problem arises.
