Musescore Studio unresponsive if opened to default page

Every time I open Musescore Studio 4.4.4 without specifying a file, the default page is unresponsive, has high CPU usage, and even crashes sometimes. This has been a problem for me since 4.2.

It seems to be something with my computer, since I use MuseScore on other windows PCs and even Linux without this problem. I've been getting around it by opening the files with musescore, which makes it behave normally.

I've tried reinstalling through MuseHub and as a standalone, but they all seem to have this problem.

Are there any details I can provide about my system that would help diagnose this?

Edit: A similar problem has arisen when I attempt to open 2 instances of MuseScore on 2 different scores. Both instances have high CPU usage and become unresponsive.
