Range selection not working as expected - BUG
Up to now, i.e. for MS lower than 4.5, I could select a range by for example ticking the first note in a bar and then press shift to select the range.
Now, using 4.5.1, it only works of you select (in page view) the first measure and the by shift select any measure later in the score.
If you, however, wants to select a measure somewhere in the middle of the score, e.g. measure 4 in the attached example, you cannot select a measure at all.
Also, if I select a single note/rest and then shift select a note/rest further in the score, everything becomes unselected.
The third possibility, by select ctrl each individual note/rest, visually indicates they become selected but if you then copy this selection and try to paste it somewhere else, nothing is pasted.
PS. Sorry, I cannot even erase the measures after my example because I cannot range select the emt4y measures.

I cant not reproduce any of the problems you described on my computer with MuseScore 4.5.1 and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. . Maybe it helps you to go to Menu -> Help and make a "Resetting to the original configuration".

The score I started in MS 4.5.1 was new, i.e. not imported from any earlier version of MS. Except for changing stem directions in measure 1 and 2for the cue notes for Violin 1, no other "tweaks" were used.
After having done a Help/Revert to factory settings, it seems to work again. The 4.5.1 was freshly installed yesterday. Before installation, as a precaution, I uninstalled the 4.4.x version of MS first, then rebooted the computer and installed MS 4.5.1
I've raised another question about this, but the stem length and beam angle for the cue notes in the first two measures looks horribly bad.

You can change the beam lengths. Maybe you shouldn't have to. But at least it can be done.

Yes i know as well as the beam angle. My main comment was, why must the default look so horrible und so incorrect.
I'm guessing you had the "Selection filter" open and had excluded voice 1 from all selections. This would indeed prevent any measure from being selected if it didn't have content in other voices. That's not new with 4.5 at all; it's how the "Selection filter" has always worked. It's annoying, but not a bug.
There were some subtle improvements made to range selection behavior, mostly having to do with how click / Shift+click work when clicking things other than notes. It's possible this may have resulted in something changing in what you are doing, depending on exactly what you are clicking.
It's also nothing new - and not a bug - that list selections (created by Ctrl+click and potent tially discontinuous) are not copyable.

I'm not sure that' the reason. There was a posting in the German forum from somebody having exactly the same problem as me following update to 4.5.1, see https://musescore.org/de/node/376330.
In my case, everything works as before and expected after a factory reset.

I think that user is confused. Drag selection is done by Shift alone, not Ctrl+Shift. Holding Ctrl used to be ignored, now it seem it changes the behavior.

Maybe, but in my case, I couldn't select any whole measure except the very first one and I tested through every possibility . By the way, i didn't have any selection filter active but that's "Schnee von Gestern" as they say in Germany. It's working now as before.
