Impossible pitches in tablature

• Apr 21, 2025 - 22:52

When you write a note that is too low or too high for a certain instrument on a staff that has a tablature of that stringed instrument linked to it, MS is actually putting a zero on that string in the tablature (meaning open string), which can lead to confusion, especially if you are not familiar with that particular instrument.

Wouldn't it be better to leave that string without putting any number on it to indicate the impossibility of reaching that pitch?
