Random crash Musescore 1.3 windows 10

• Mar 4, 2015 - 09:49

Musescore randomly crashed when copying some notes from a piano xml file (generated by converting an online mus file with finale notepad) I was transposing octaves, changing clefs, and undo-redoing before it happened. Right before it happened I had noticed that a measure had gotten messed up (maybe by my miss input, maybe by glitch) in the middle of pasting stuff and instead of fixing it I just deleted the measure. Huh, and looking at the screenshot the measure is still there. Maybe I undid the delete. Anyway, random crash. The line of rests below the notes currently being edited got glitched. Thank you for taking the time to report this crash. Could open the same xml file in the beta release of the coming MuseScore 2.0 and see if you can reproduce the crash? You can get the beta release from http://musescore.org/en/node/42051 . It can run nicely next to your current 1.3 release so there won't be conflicts.

Well no crashes as of yet on 2.0. I noticed that while on 1.3 I was blissfully unaware of voices. On 2.0 when I copied notes I noticed rests on the score along side the notes and I couldn't delete the rests and I found out that this was due to voice issues. I didn't notice any voice conflicts on 1.3 so maybe there was a bug there. aside: merging 2 voices is overly complicated (especially if you don't know they exist). Had a note held for 8 beats with a run starting on the 4th beat. I changed the held note (voice 1) to 3 beats and was confused why I was getting the rests that I couldn't remove. Ended up manually inputting the held note on the target document then swapping the voices of the region in the original document and copying just the run over. It works but it isn't what I want (apparently an old issue). Idk. I hope my observations of the problem helped (or at least aren't a red haring)

Well I can just say thank you for free software and people who help support it.
