Bulgarian Translation
Hi everybody,
I haven't seen anything about Bulgarian, so I would like to help translating MuseScore in Bulgarian. But I don't know how to start, so if you give me some instructions I would be able to start litle by litle. I'm using Mandriva Linux, if it matters.
Thanks and Long live rock 'n roll

Hi Krachev,
Thanks for helping out MuseScore. We'll start with a simple task so you get acquainted with the website translation workflow.
This is how content on musescore.org is being translated. You can repeat the same steps for any other page, either menu pages or handbook pages.
If you have successfully translated this first page, I'll show you how to translate the MuseScore software interface. Leave a comment when you're ready!
Thanks!

Hi Thomas,
I just translated the first page and I think it looks fine. Because I did it on another computer with Windows, I'm not sure if the encoding is Unicode. Might be CP-1251. I don't know if this is a problem, but you can tell me if there is something to be done in the future. I'm ready to proceed.
Thanks for the help!

Hi Krachev,
To me it looks perfect so it seemed to work out just fine. If you wish to proceed, you have two options now: the website or the software.
For the website, which also includes the handbook, follow the instructions from the first comment because it's all the same for all pages. To repeat: click on a menu page (right sidebar), hit the translate tab and proceed as you have done. One small difference: you will see that the menu item will not be translated and remain in English. In order to fix that, it needs manual intervention from my part. Other than that, all things should go smooth.
For the software, we use a translation server at http://translate.musescore.org. I just added Bulgarian so you can go ahead over there. However, for the first major translation effort, I would propose you translate on your local machine. In order to do so, follow these steps:
If you have questions, let me know.

Hi there,
today I translated some parts of the site. Still much to go :) Anyway, now I wanted to start with the software, installed Qt Linguist, downloaded the mscore_bg.ts file, but when I tried to open it, Qt Linguist shows a message "Unexpected tag" and below - "OK" button. And it's unable to open it. Any suggestions?

The ts file you downloaded could be corrupted during download by some browser. Find attached a ts file which worked successfully on my system.

Hi Krachev,
I updated the menu items with the correct translation: http://musescore.org/bg
I noticed that you started with the handbook. As you will see, we use special markup [ [ title of the page ] ] which automatically links to the right handbook page. This is done because the text between the brackets is an exact match with the title of a handbook page. So take e.g. Инсталация which is currently printed red. If you would add a translation for installation with the title Инсталация, then it will link correctly.
One last thing: I used Google Translate to translate some of the interface strings such as:
- the slogan: Free music composition & notation software
- the download button: Free Download & Version
Can you verify whether these translations are correct?
Thanks a lot!

Hi Thomas,
thanks for the file, I guess it was corrupted before, now it opens a dialog with some settings (attached). Should I change something or leave it as it is?
About "installation" and red links. I noticed them and also that they don't link. So it was a mistake to translate them? I made the translation for the Installation page but I guess it's a mess now. What exactly to do to fix this? Bring back the original names?
Google translate is useful sometimes, but it's not always correct.
- the slogan: Free music composition & notation software should be "Безплатен софтуер за композиране и нотиране на музика"
- the download button: Free Download could change to "Безплатно изтегляне". "Version - Версия" is fine, leave it that way
In reply to Hi Thomas, thanks for the by Krachev
Indeed, it doesn't link apparently. Strange. Checking it out. Thx for your patience. In the meantime, you can continue with whatever translation work you were doing.

It's fixed now. The links are cached in order to reduce hits on the database. Every now and then, they are refreshed, so if the link stays red, you'll have to wait it out for max one hour.
I just translated the Tremolo page and I found a little problem. Because the title Тремоло is the same in Russian it links to the Russian version from the Bulgarian handbook. I can then choose Bulgarian language and it's fine but maybe something should be done.
