bend or slide notes?
As far as I know, MuseScore doesn't bend, slide, vibrato, etc. If I'm wrong, please tell me how to bend or slide notes.
But if I'm right - - can someone recommend a free software that does bend/ slide notes?
I'm thinking that much of the work can be accomplished on MuseScore, and these few other things with an accompanying program.
Thank you very much.

MuseScore is a notation program. As such, it provides a large range of symbols for bends, falls, etc. But since it is not primarily a playback program, it doesn't happen to also play them back.
Meanwhile, any number of sequencers would allow you to add MIDI pitch bend commands, but they aren't notation programs. So yes, creating the score in MuseScore then adding the pitch bend commands in a sequencer would be a decent way to go. I'm less than impressed with the range of free / open source sequencers out there, for Windows anyhow. Linux seems a bit better. No idea about Mac.
FWIW, MuseScore does support bend and slide notation. It just doesn't play them.
See here for bends http://musescore.org/en/node/22847#comment-87011
For slide, see glissando in the glissando palette
