Beginner question
I want to make a score of exercises in 4/4 with 5 measures per line. On each line, the first 4 measures all have eighth notes, and the last measure is a whole note. In essence, these are double octave scales.
However, Musecore puts the first 4 measures on line one, and the whole note on line 2. I've tried a bunch of things to get that last measure on line one, including scaling and stretching. It stubbornly refuses.
Basically, the eighth notes appear to be too far apart to permit the fifth measure to bump up to line one.
Does anyone have a suggestion? Many thanks for reading.

Welcome aboard.
Things to check...
In menu item: Layout /Page Settings
What size paper? Page margins?
To compress measures:
Select the first 4 measures, then use menu item: Layout / Decrease Stretch - especially if the key signature uses valuable space (e.g. lots of sharps/flats).

I had no problem creating this attachment.
(You can also attach any problematic score to your forum post.)

Have you set a line break?
Let me guess: you started with My_First_Score.mscz? That score has line breaks every four measures. You can delete them manually, or use the Add/Remove Line Breaks tool .

Duh! Zack, you got it. Now I'm on my way.
Many thanks for the replies, everyone!

You're welcome. One additional piece of advice: at this point you should reset the stretch again—select everything and choose "Reset Stretch" from the Layout menu—to straighten things out. Oh, and it goes without saying that you can get five measures per line by using the Add/Remove Line Breaks tool.
