Musescore 2.0.2 won't open
I just downloaded the MuseScore 2.0.1 software last night on my Windows 8.1 laptop and it was running fine. However, when I attempted to start it up today, it didn't go so well. Uopn clicking on the application, the loading symbol would appear for a split second, disappear, and then.......nothing. It's like I never clicked on the application. It won't give me an error message or anything!! I'll click on it again and again but still get the same result!! I tried re-downloading the software but the same thing continues to happen!! I've tried using the handbook to revert back to factory settings. But I don't think the correct files are even on my hard drive. The screen shots below show how close I came to finding the requested files. I don't know what else to do.... help me please..... Thank you.

Can you please attach in a reply here the file shown in "Screenshot (29).png"?
(You should probably rename it from MuseScore2.ini to MuseScore2.txt in order to attach it to a post)
Then you can try to delete this file and launch MuseScore again (this is equivalent to a MuseScore factory reset).
Thank you for your collaboration. Other users are experiencing similar problems, but we still can't identify what is going wrong (none of the developers managed to reproduce this problem yet) and every piece of information is precious.
It turns out that I was using the search option to look for the Program file. This was in an attempt to revert back to factory settings. This, among other methods including rebooting and running as an administrator, was unsuccessful in fixing the issue. Even redownloading the program didn't work. Just disregard the screen shots as they are irrelevant.
I just downloaded the previous version of Musescore (2.0.0). But my computer won't let me install it because I apparently still have the latest version. The the window in the screen shot below appears. What files in particular do I need to delete? And what exactly do I have to modify?
Just uninstall using normal Windows means
When I try to open Musescore 2.0.2 on my windows vista, it does not open at all, no matter what I do. I've redownloaded it 5 times and still nothing happens, not even an error message. Any idea why?
Re-downloading won't generally change anything. But do try the instructions for "Revert to factory settings" in the Handbook. Also try adding "-w" to the command line shown there if the "-F" doesn't do the trick. Also, if your machne is very old - I think 10 years or so? - it might lack some the SSE2 hardware that MuseScore requires. In which case, try the unsupported non-SSE2 version here: https://musescore.org/en/download#Unsupported-versions-of-Windows
If that doens't help, please start a new thread in the Support forum and give as many system, details as you can. If you aor someone you know can open a terminal / command window and run MuseScore from there, reporting the output that shows on that screen would be useful.
MuseScore 2.0.2 was working fine on my laptop yesterday. Today, it just will not open. I've uninstalled and re-downloaded to no avail. I even went down the 'repair' route - pointless. I updated to Windows 10 a week or so ago, but as there was no problem until today, I'm not sure that's relevant - although I strongly suspect it is. Unless this is repaired, I have lost access to a large part of the repertoire material for a Cathedral choir of which I am the Administrator; and given Christmas is swiftly approaching, this is a MAJOR issue. How is this to be resolved? It's URGENT!!!
If by "repair" you mean something other than the instructions under "Revert to factory settings", that is the first thing to try. If that does not help, try starting with the "-w" or "-s" options as suggested above. You might also try the "portable apps" version (do a Google search to find).
If none of that helps, please use the Support forum to ask for further assistance.
I found the portable version and downloaded it to my choir USB flash drive, but I still can't open it. I think I'm going to have to revert to Widows 7 as MuseScore seemed to work fine there. But what if if it doesn't now? Do I have to buy Sibelius, which, given the cost, is not something I want to contemplate. It's all hugely frustrating. Can nothing be done?
I've reverted to Windows 7 - problem solved. I had to uninstall and re-download MuseScore 2.0.2, but it seems to be working - so far. Gloria in excelsis Deo, she said with a sigh of relief.
Better suited for the support forum, and downgraded because of a lack of information.
