How to make score open with measure containing two crotchet rests, then notes?
I am working thru the book "How to Read Music" by Roger Evans. I am stuck trying to enter the score of Brahm's "Cradle Song": the score printed in the book has the first measure opening with two crotchet (quarter note) rests, then two eighth notes. Starting the score entry, the first empty measure has a half note rest. New notes are added at the beginning of the measure, the software adjusting the rest(s) to fill to the time signature (3/4).
How does one start note entry behind the place-holder rest, so the result is two crotchet rests, then the two eighth notes, or otherwise achieve this result?
I attach a screenshot of the best I have been able to do so far.

1. Select the rest.
2. Enter "note entry" mode. (Press "n").
3. Select the crotchet value.
4. Press the spacr bar twice.
5. Continue.
