We need more information to help you Dan, and an example score you are having trouble with.
However I think you may just need a redefined Drumset definition.....
Have you downloaded the Marching Percussion soundfonts??

In the Zip file you downloaded you should find a drumset definition (DrumlineXtra.drm). If you open the Edit Drumset dialogue and then load and use this definition, hopefully it will solve your problem.
If not, come back with more specific information.

It works fine and sounds are coming out but I was just wondering if the marching percussion(quad, battery snare, bass drums, cymbals) could use staff lines instead of ledger lines. When I use different pitches for the bass drums and quad, it uses a ledger line because there is no staff line. It's just a single line

It would still help if you posted the score you are having trouble with (the actual MSCZ file, not just a screenshot), so we can see exactly what you are talking about.

He wants a full staff for the drums - 5 line. MS used to have this.
Edit: It still does, I just checked.
Press "i" and the instrument pallet comes up. There you can select the type of drum staff.
thanks a bunch really helped
