Midi File percussion
Hi Folks
I have a midi file of the Batman theme that I need to extract the percussion part to use for something else. I have played the midi through Windows Media player and the percussion sounds like percussion, however as soon as I open it in muescore it sounds like a piano. I have seperated the perc part from everything else and resaved as a Midi file and that has also become piano sounding.
What do I need to do to make it sound like percussion again folks?
Thanks for your help
Dave

In order to help, we'd need you to post the MIDI file in question. Probably just a matter of selecting the proper instrument.

Here is the complete midi file concerned.

Works fine for me in MsueScore 2. Are you perhaps still using 1.3? It had a number of very serious limitations in MIDI import (among other areas).

Welcome aboard...
1. Import 'Batman - Theme (Original) (2).mid' into MuseScore 2.0.1
2. In the MIDI import panel beneath the score, uncheck all the instruments except Percussion.
3. Check menu item: View / Synthesizer. Be sure you have a soundfont like FluidR3 which can trigger percussion sounds during playback. You can also check the Mixer - the keyboard shortcut is F10 - for (Standard) drum sounds.
