installing MuseScore 2.01

• Jul 4, 2015 - 18:37

Hello all,

For starters, I'm not sure as to whether this is the right place for my question - but I'll give it a shot anyway.

Laptop and desktop both are now running Mint 17. Musescore 1.3 is already on the laptop, but it seems to have some flaws that makes work on a current piece a trifle frustrating. Hence, I'd like to upgrade to 2.01 on both machines.

I attempted several ways:

-installing MuseScore 2.01 with the green download button in MuseScore/Home;
-with Synaptic;
-with the command line.

Download button sends me around in circles. Synaptic searches for MuseScore 2.01 - and then reports that it can't be found. Konsole gives this output:

sudo apt-get install musescore 2.01

Note, selecting 'aes2501-wy' for regex '2.01'
musescore is already the newest version.
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
libfftw3-single3:i386 libgomp1:i386 libzita-convolver3:i386
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following NEW packages will be installed
aes2501-wy
0 to upgrade, 1 to newly install, 0 to remove and 40 not to upgrade.

Current state of MuseScore was checked, after that - but my version stubbornly remains 1.3, just as before. Then I tried to install with sudo -s --> sudo get-apt install musescore 2.01; but this didn't yield any result either.

Some advice on how to continue will be greatly appreciated.
