Has there been a fix for Mac 10.6.4 feta-font missing problem?
I just downloaded Musescore and discovered that the notes only show up as empty boxes. After looking back through the forums I saw I wasn't the only one with the problem.
I ran a Terminal to reset the program
here are the results

I'm just wondering if any ground has been made on this problem, because I would love to begin using the program.
Comments
No progress has been made because any of the developers can reproduce this problem.
There is no feta font per se in MuseScore. Feta font has been used to create MuseScore font (Mscore1) and this font is included in the binary (mscore).
Do you have more information? Are you running MuseScore as an admin or not ? Are you using a mac ppc or a mac intel ?
I run MuseScore on MacOSX 10.5 on a macbook intel and I can't reproduce. Is anyone using MuseScore on a 10.6 box with success?
In reply to Can't reproduce -> Can't fix by [DELETED] 5
I got this MacBook three weeks ago, so it's as new as it gets.
I am running it as the admin.
It seems that it's not being able to find the Mscore font in the file itself, is there a way of using a font outside of the file to the same purpose?

I run MS with no font problems on 10.6. Is there anything I can look at that might give a clue?
Am experiencing exactly the same problem as first described by lukeyd...
Am running 0.9.6.2 on Mac OS X (Previously ran 0.9.5 on Mac OS X)
Problem existed in both 0.9.6.2 and 0.9.5...
MacBook Pro
Mac OS X Version 10.6.4
Intel 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo
4 GB 667Mhz DDR2 SDRAM
System Font Folder shows:
FETTE__.TTF TrueType Font Enabled and Valid
There is no Feta font present/listed on my system...nor Mscore1 font either...
Here's what I get in TERMINAL:

Pimdakaas reports the same terminal output as JohnT on his OSX 10.6.5 and latest version of MuseScore.

I have the same problem. Trying to run 0.9.6.3 on a Mac 10.6.4. The notes show up as squares. Would love to have a fix for this.
Also tried running 0.9.6.2 and 0.9.6.3 pre-release. Neither one will show the correct font for notes.

Seems to me I am having the same problem as stated above.
My brother suggested a work-around: I set up a guest account and run musescore there. No problems occured. Back in my own account the old problem was there again.

What could be different in the two accounts ?
In reply to What could be different in by [DELETED] 5
the number of fonts, for instance - also parallels desktop could be different on a fresh account, if no windows hasn't been installed yet. There seems to be a mscore.dll in windows . Could it cause trouble because of its name?
In reply to the number of fonts, for by volle
It's very unlikely for the DLL but you could try to rename it and launch MuseScore. Others have parallels installed?
Do you have an huge number of fonts installed? A font named mscoreXXXX installed?

Cleaning the font collection from problematic fonts seems to do the trick.
In reply to See: It worked for me too by volle
How did you do that ? How do you find problematic fonts ?
Edit : Found it. See http://musescore.org/en/handbook/known-incompatibilities

I fixed the problem on my computer by eliminating a lot of the fonts I never use. There was either a junk file in the fonts folder or maybe I just had too many. Regardless, now Muse Score displays correctly.

Interesting. Any chance you can narrow it down to which font file (or files) was causing the problem?
In reply to Interesting. Any chance you by David Bolton
Wish I could narrow it down, but not likely. I removed 836 files from my fonts folder, leaving about 1800 intact. (I do a lot of graphic design, hence the high number of fonts).
The files I removed included all the .pfb, .pfm, .fon, .tmp and .zip files from the Fonts folder thinking that they could be problematic. I also removed a good number of .ttf, .otf, fonts that I simply don't use.
In reply to Too Many Fonts by Crossmark
I let Mac determine, which fonts appear to be problematic. In my case there were a great number of slightly problematic fonts. I got rid of all of them. That solved the problem.

I've just written an "how to troubleshoot this issue" in the documentation. Can you check if it's OK ?

looks fine
Validating all fonts has worked in the past to solve this problem.
Validated today and all fonts are valid, no problem fonts to erase.
Musescore back to boxes, rendered unusable.

Is it maybe this?
#11109: [Trunk] Broken font in score if 1.0 already has one open
In reply to Is it maybe this? #11109: by chen lung
I have version 1.1... basically I don't believe what you are describing is my problem.
One odd thing: note heads were fine for a moment. And then I imported a midi file. And then it crashed. And then the note heads were messed up. And after validating all fonts, restarting, and downloading 1.1 again and reinstalling, no luck.
In reply to Is it maybe this? #11109: by chen lung
Your comment made me think about the font being "in use" already, and I looked at my open applications. I had garageband open with a midi file.
I quit garageband and voila!
Back to good.
Thanks!
In reply to Wait... YES. Kind of. by haikuluke
It still affects 1.1, but 1.0 was released at the time of reporting :).
Glad it's fine - that could be another report (GarageBand).
