Importing MIDI files - score settings
The type of score is easy to set when opening a new session from the scratch.
But when I open a standard MIDI file created e.g. in the sequencer, I haven´t found
the way how to tell to the MuseScore what style of score form I need.
Example: If I play two hand piano piece with my secuencer, export the MIDI file and
open it in the MuseScore (MS), MS puts both righ and left hand in the single stave - how can I devide the
score to treble and bass clefs?
Another example: If I have created two MIDI files: piano part and bass guitar in the sequencer, export these
standard MIDI files and open first the piano part in the MuseScore and then wanted to have the bass guitar
part in it´s own stave in my score - how to do this (= import several MIDI files in the MS single session)?

For the first case, you have two choices. Or in your sequencer you create two tracks one for left hand and one for right hand. MuseScore can't know which notes you play with which hand... Or with your single track, you can right click on the staff and use the "split staff" option.
For the second case, you can create a new musescore file and use copy paste.

Thank you for the advice.
In the second example: when copying and pasting, how to create place for the additional staves
and take care that the new line fits in the right place in relation to the previous one(s) ? This is propably main editing for the experienced user but I have difficulties to find the right way to do it. E.g. deleting rest signs/changing rest places/replacing rests with notes, deviding bars/creating new bar line - all these kind of editing is very
complicated to me when working with the MS.

You might want to watch the video tutorials and read the handbook

I know I´m in the very beginning as the user, sometimes it feels the program is not as intuitive as one could hope and all the manuals aren´t very helpful. But I guess this is typical and all progresses step by step. H.
Are you using a sequencer that can export to MusicXML?
See [[nodetitle:Export]] in the handbook for more details about the differences between MIDI and MusicXML.

Sorry for the delayed answer. I use Live 8.2, I checked the manual and it seems that
Live MIDI clips can be exported just as Standard MIDI files.
Now after reading about the MusicXML it seems that this is rather unfortunate feature in the sequencer
and I will send the Ableton a query concerning this. H.
